How to Draw a Red Panda Climbing

Step 1: Big soft head

Near the top, right of the middle, draw a big egg head with round cheeks. Leave room for a tree.

Tip The head is almost as wide as the body.

Step 2: White mask

Across the middle of the head, draw a mask like 2 fat lobes joined in the middle.

Step 3: Big eyes

Inside each lobe, draw a big egg eye with a black dot and a white shine.

Tip Keep a rim of mask showing all round each eye.

Step 4: Ears and cheek fluff

On each top corner, draw a big round ear with a smaller one inside. Add a fluffy cheek tuft.

Step 5: Nose and smile

Under the mask, draw a wide oval muzzle with a black heart nose and a W smile.

Step 6: Tree trunk

Down the left side, draw 2 tall trunk lines, a hand apart. Add a ground line and 3 bark curves.

Tip Leave a small gap between trunk and head.

Step 7: The body

Start on the left cheek. Draw a tall bean body down along the trunk and stop on the right cheek.

Step 8: Hugging arm

Start on the tummy under the chin. Draw a thick arm hugging round the trunk, back to the tummy.

Step 9: Back leg

Start low on the tummy. Draw a round thigh and a foot pressed on the bark, back to the body.

Step 10: Far paws

Behind the trunk, draw 2 small round paws peeking past its left edge. Add 2 toe lines inside each.

Step 11: Bushy ringed tail

Start low on the back. Draw a long fat tail hanging down, curling up at the tip. Add 4 stripes.

Step 12: Rust fur

Colour the head, ears, body and tail rust orange. Leave the mask, muzzle, tufts, ear insides and 2 rings white.

Tip Leave 2 thin white brows above the mask too.

Step 13: Wood trunk

Go over your lines. Colour the tree trunk wood brown, around the arm, the foot and the 2 far paws.

Step 14: Brown legs

Colour the arm, the leg, the 2 far paws and the 2 white tail rings dark brown. Done!
