How to Draw a Squirrel
Draw a squirrel in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bun head.
Step 1: Bun head
Near the top, draw a big bun head: narrow on top, with 2 fat round cheek pouches at the bottom.
Tip The cheeks are the widest part. Keep the chin a soft, flat line.
Step 2: Pointy ears
On top of the head, draw 2 pointy tent ears, with a smaller triangle inside each.
Step 3: Two shiny eyes
Halfway down the head, above the cheeks, draw 2 big round eyes with black dots and shines.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes, draw a heart snout and triangle nose. From the nose, draw a line down to the mouth.
Step 5: Smile and buck teeth
Under the line, draw a little smile curving up each side. Hang 2 big buck teeth from the middle.
Step 6: Round body
Under the cheeks, draw a tall round cushion body, a little narrower than the cheeks.
Tip No neck: the body tucks straight under the cheeks. Leave room below for feet.
Step 7: Fists and arms
Under the chin, draw 2 fists with knuckle bumps. From each side, draw 2 arm lines down to the fist.
Tip Each arm is a stubby sausage angled in to a fist under the chin.
Step 8: The acorn
Between the fists, draw a fat acorn: a bowl cap with a tiny stalk, and a round pointed nut.
Tip Make the nut as wide as the cap, so it looks like an acorn.
Step 9: Tummy and tail
Draw a tummy oval under the fists. From the right hip, draw a big S tail, curled over on top.
Tip The tail is widest in the middle. Its top curls over beside the head.
Step 10: Feet on the ground
Draw the ground under the body. At each bottom corner, draw a plump bun foot with 2 toe lines.
Step 11: Whiskers
From each side of the snout, draw 2 short whiskers out over the cheek, one up, one down.
Step 12: Cream and pink
Colour the snout and tummy cream. Colour the ear insides, nose, fists and feet pink.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Ginger fur, brown acorn
Colour all the fur ginger, around the coloured parts, and the acorn brown. Go over your lines.
