How to Draw a Poison Dart Frog
Draw a poison dart frog in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and body.
Step 1: Head and body
A little above the middle, draw one slim egg lying on its side, pointy snout on the left.
Tip Leave room below for the folded legs and the leaf.
Step 2: The big eye
Draw one big circle eye on top of the head, poking up above the head line. Add a black dot.
Tip Frog eyes sit on top like headlights.
Step 3: Smile and nostril
Start at the snout tip. Draw a smile back under the eye, turning up at the end. Add a nostril.
Step 4: The big thigh
On the back half of the body draw an egg lying sideways for the thigh, poking out behind the rump.
Step 5: Folded back leg
Under the thigh draw a short shin folding back, then a flat foot pointing forward with 3 round toe pads.
Tip Dart frog toes end in round pads, like tiny lollipops.
Step 6: The front leg
Under the eye draw a short front leg bent at the elbow, with 3 round toe pads.
Step 7: The leaf
Under the feet draw a long leaf, pointed at both ends and wider than the frog. Add a middle line.
Step 8: Black spots
Draw round spots all over the back, head and thigh, different sizes, all inside the lines.
Step 9: Blue head and body
Go over your lines. Colour the head, body and thigh blue, around the spots. Leave the eye white.
Step 10: Blue legs
Colour both legs, the feet and the toe pads blue too.
Step 11: Black spots, green leaf
Colour every spot black. Colour the leaf green, around the feet.
Tip Bright blue with black spots says: do not touch, I am poisonous!
