How to Draw a Po’ Boy
Draw a po’ boy in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
Below the middle draw a long flat oval plate, nearly as wide as the paper, with a second oval inside.
Step 2: The split roll
Across the plate draw a long bread bottom, flat on top. Above it, draw the round top half, tilted up.
Tip A po' boy is a New Orleans sandwich stuffed with fried shrimp. Leave a gap for the filling.
Step 3: The paper wrap
Round the left end of the roll draw a paper wrap: a box with soft corners, taller than the roll.
Step 4: Lettuce
From the paper, draw 7 lettuce bumps hanging over the bottom bread, then a frilly edge up to the top.
Step 5: Fried shrimp
In the gap draw 4 fat curled shrimp: a round back curling down to a thin tail on the right.
Step 6: Tails and tomato
On the thin end of each shrimp draw a little 3-part tail fan. Add 2 tomato slices under the lettuce.
Step 7: The table
Draw a line under the plate from well left to well right.
Step 8: Sky plate, tan roll
Go over your lines. Colour the plate sky blue and both halves of the roll tan. Leave the paper white.
Step 9: Ginger shrimp
Colour the shrimp ginger brown.
Step 10: Green lettuce
Colour the lettuce green, going around the shrimp and their tails.
Step 11: Red tails and tomato
Colour the shrimp tails and the tomato slices red, and your po' boy is ready to eat!
