How to Draw a Basket
Draw a basket in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
In the middle of your paper draw a very wide flat oval. Add a smaller oval inside for the rim.
Step 2: The basket
From each end of the oval draw a line a hand down, leaning in. Join them with a wide smile.
Tip A tub, a bit narrower at the bottom.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the front of the basket draw 2 big egg eyes close together. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: The handle
From the rim's left end draw a tall rainbow over to its right end. Add a smaller one inside it.
Step 5: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small flat cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 6: Braid and ribs
Under the rim draw a shallow smile side to side. From it, draw a long line down past each cheek.
Step 7: Zigzag weave
Under the cheeks draw a zigzag of little mountains side to side, through the ends of both long lines.
Step 8: Ground and shadow
Draw a ground line where the basket sits, well left to well right. Add a flat oval shadow on it.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Tan basket
Colour the handle, the thin rim ring and the middle of the basket tan, around the eyes and cheeks.
Step 11: Wood weave, grey shadow
Colour the braid, the bottom below the zigzag and the rim's inside wood brown. Colour the shadow grey.
