How to Draw a Periscope
Draw a periscope in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waves.
Step 1: The waves
Draw wave bumps from edge to edge, with a gap in the middle. Add 2 ripples under them.
Step 2: Splash ring
In the gap draw a flat oval sitting on the water, touching the waves on both sides.
Step 3: The pipe
Start on the oval. Draw 2 lines straight up, a thumb apart, and stop high above the water.
Tip Keep them straight, like the sides of a drinking straw.
Step 4: The head
On top of the pipe draw a rounded box sticking out far to the left, like an upside-down L.
Step 5: The lens
At the left end of the head draw a big circle lens, with a smaller circle inside for the glass.
Step 6: Rivets
Along the top of the head, right of the lens, draw 3 tiny circles in a row, like little bolts.
Step 7: Pipe rings
Draw 2 short rings across the pipe, one under the head and one lower. Start left, stop right.
Step 8: Bubbles
Under the water, left of the pipe, draw 3 round bubbles floating up, getting smaller as they rise.
Step 9: The sun
In the top right draw a small round sun with 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: Yellow sun
Go over your lines. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 11: Sky lens, blue sea
Colour the glass sky blue, leaving a white shine. Colour the water blue, around the ring and the bubbles.
Step 12: Grey periscope
Colour the pipe, the splash ring and the head grey, going around the glass. Your periscope is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a periscope, drawn by you.
