How to Draw an Oval
Draw an oval in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a light cross.
Step 1: A light cross
Lightly draw a long flat line. Cross its middle with a shorter upright line, about two thirds as long.
Tip Press softly. The cross shows how wide and how tall the oval is.
Step 2: The oval
Draw one smooth round loop through all 4 line ends. Keep both ends round, not pointy.
Tip No points and no flat bits: an oval is a stretched circle.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Rub out the cross. In the middle of the oval draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and shines.
Tip Leave a tiny white dot in each black dot. That is the shine.
Step 4: Big smile
Leave a gap under the eyes, then draw a wide U smile from under one eye to the other.
Step 5: Rosy cheeks
Under the outside of each eye, clear of the smile, draw a tiny sideways oval for a cheek.
Step 6: Sparkles
Draw 2 sparkle stars on each side of the oval, one high and one low.
Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.
Step 7: The floor
Under the oval, draw a long floor line from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.
Step 8: Pink cheeks
Colour the 2 cheeks rosy pink.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles
Colour the 4 sparkles yellow.
Step 10: Purple oval
Go over your lines and colour the oval purple, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white. You're done!
