How to Draw an Otter
Draw an otter in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.
Step 1: Wide head
Near the top draw a big wide head, as wide as your hand, with fat cheeks and a wide chin.
Step 2: Ears and nose
Draw a small ear halfway down each side. Low on the face draw a wide oval with a black nose.
Step 3: Eyes and smile
Draw 2 big round eyes above the oval. From the nose draw a short line down to a w smile.
Step 4: Whiskers
Start on the edge of the oval and draw 2 short whiskers out toward each cheek, stopping before the edge.
Step 5: Pear body
Start under the left cheek. Draw a pear body down and round, back up to the right cheek.
Tip Shorter than the head, with shoulders narrower than the cheeks.
Step 6: Left arm and paw
Start on the left under the cheek. Slope an arm in to a mitten paw, then back to the body.
Step 7: Right arm and paw
Start on the right side under the cheek. Draw the other arm the same way, facing the left paw.
Step 8: Clam shell
Start at the top of the left mitten. Draw a bumpy rainbow of 5 bumps over to the right mitten.
Step 9: Two webbed feet
Start low on each side. Draw a fat paddle foot tilting up with 3 toes, back to the tummy.
Step 10: Thick tail
Below the right arm, sweep a thick tail out and up to a small round tip, back to the hip.
Tip Fat at the body, thin at the tip.
Step 11: Water
From the left edge to the right edge, draw a wavy water line across the low tummy.
Tip Rub out the lines under the water, so the tummy and feet sit in it.
Step 12: Cream and tan
Colour the nose oval cream. Colour the tummy a light tan.
Step 13: Purple shell, brown fur
Colour the shell purple. Colour the fur brown, around the nose oval, tummy and shell. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Blue water
Colour the water blue, from the wavy line right down to the bottom of the paper.
