How to Draw a Minnesota Map
Draw a minnesota map in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start high on the left. Draw a straight line right, then a little chimney. Stop just below the line.
Tip Minnesota is a tall state. Leave lots of room below.
Step 2: The wavy top
Carry on from the chimney. Draw a wavy line slanting down to the right. Stop at a point.
Step 3: The lake shore
Carry on from the point. Draw a long slanted line down to the left. Stop near the middle.
Tip This slanted side is the shore of a huge lake.
Step 4: The right side
Carry on from there. Draw straight down a little, then a wobbly line down. Stop three-quarters of the way down.
Step 5: The river corner
Carry on from there. Slant down to the right, then curve down. Stop at the bottom.
Step 6: The bottom edge
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line to the left. Stop under the start of your top line.
Step 7: The left side
Carry on from there. Go straight up, make a small bump to the left, then wave up to the start.
Tip The bottom of this side is ruler straight. The top follows a river.
Step 8: Two lakes
Near the top, draw a slanted oval lake. In the middle, draw a small round lake.
Tip Minnesota is called the land of 10,000 lakes.
Step 9: The capital
Low down by the right side, draw a small circle for the capital city, Saint Paul.
Step 10: Blue lakes
Colour the 2 lakes blue.
Step 11: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour the land green, around the blue lakes and the little circle.
Step 12: Red capital
Colour the little circle red for the capital. Your map of Minnesota is done!
