How to Draw a Meadow
Draw a meadow in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a far hill.
Step 1: A far hill
Above the middle, start at the left edge. Draw a long soft hill across and stop at the right edge.
Step 2: A near hill
Lower down, start at the left edge. Draw a second soft hill in front and stop at the right edge.
Tip The front hill hides the bottom of the back one.
Step 3: A big tree
On the right of the back hill draw a tree: a trunk up from the hill to a lumpy top.
Step 4: The sun
In the top left corner draw a round sun with 8 short rays round it.
Step 5: A cloud
Between the sun and the tree draw a small puffy cloud: 4 round bumps on top, 2 shallow bumps underneath.
Step 6: Flower stems
On the front hill draw 4 stems, each with a leaf. Start on the grass, stop where a flower goes.
Step 7: Flowers
On top of each stem draw a little flower: a ring of 5 round bumps with a round middle.
Step 8: Grass tufts
On the front hill, near each side, draw a grass tuft: 3 little blades up from one spot.
Step 9: A butterfly
Under the cloud draw a butterfly: a short body, 2 big top wings, 2 small bottom wings and 2 feelers.
Step 10: Yellow sun, pink butterfly
Colour the sun and the flower middles yellow, and the butterfly's wings pink.
Step 11: Red flowers, front hill
Colour the flowers red around their middles, then the front hill leaf green around the flowers.
Step 12: Back hill and tree
Colour the back hill and treetop green, the trunk wood brown. Go over your lines and your meadow is done!
