How to Draw Love Birds

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw love birds in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two heads.

Print

  1. Step 1: Two heads

Draw 2 round heads side by side, a little apart, each with 3 soft puffs on top.

Tip The puffs are gentle hills, not spikes.

  2. Step 2: Two beaks

On each head draw a short fat beak. Start on the head, out to a point, back to the head.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On each head, behind the beak, draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a shine.

  4. Step 4: Two plump bodies

For each bird, start on the back of the head. Curve down, round a fat belly, stop under the beak.

Tip A plump egg hanging under the head, narrower than the head.

  5. Step 5: Two fan tails

On each bird, start on the back end. Draw a fan tail pointing down and away, back to the tummy.

  6. Step 6: Two wings

On each bird draw a teardrop wing from under the head back to the tail, with 2 feather lines.

  7. Step 7: Chest curves

Across each tummy draw a gentle curve from the front edge to the back edge, just under the wing.

  8. Step 8: Legs and toes

Under each tummy draw 2 short legs, each with 3 toes, starting and stopping on the tummy.

  9. Step 9: The branch

Under the toes, draw a long branch nearly to each edge, thinner on the right, with a little twig.

  10. Step 10: A heart

High above the 2 beaks, in the middle, draw a heart.

  11. Step 11: Orange chests

Colour each chest orange, from the chin down to the chest curve.

  12. Step 12: Pink and blue birds

Colour the left bird pink and the right bird blue, around the orange chests. Leave the eyes white.

Tip Leave the beaks and legs white for now.

  13. Step 13: Grey beaks, red heart

Colour the beaks, legs and toes dark grey, and the heart red.

  14. Step 14: Brown branch

Colour the branch and twig brown, around the grey toes. Your love birds are done!
