How to Draw a Lion Sleeping
Draw a lion sleeping in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the face.
Step 1: The face
On the left of your paper draw a fat egg face with fat cheeks and a flat chin.
Tip Leave a hand of room all round for the mane.
Step 2: Ears and sleepy eyes
On each top corner draw a rainbow ear on the face line. Add 2 sleepy closed eyes: short curved lines.
Step 3: The mane
Start outside the left ear. Draw a cloud of round hills down, under the chin, up to the right ear.
Step 4: Nose and cheek pads
Under the eyes draw a small black triangle nose. Under it draw 2 oval cheek pads touching in the middle.
Step 5: Smile and whiskers
Start under the left cheek pad. Draw a shallow smile, stopping under the right pad. Add 2 whiskers each side.
Step 6: Ground and front paws
Draw a ground line just under the mane. Under the chin draw 2 plump bun paws side by side.
Step 7: Lying body
Start on the mane. Draw a long low body hill back, down to the ground, and back to the mane.
Step 8: Back paw and tail
Draw a bun back paw and a thigh curve down to it. Curl a tufted tail up from the rump.
Step 9: Toes, ears and Zzz
Draw 2 toe curves in each paw and a smaller rainbow in each ear. Add 3 Z's floating up.
Step 10: Sand fur
Colour the face, ears, body, paws and tail sand, leaving the cheek pads and inner ears white.
Step 11: Peach pads, ginger mane
Colour the cheek pads and inner ears peach. Colour the mane and tail tuft ginger, around the face and ears.
