How to Draw a Koala
Draw a koala in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.
Step 1: Wide head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg lying on its side, wider than tall.
Tip Make it big: the head is about half of the whole koala.
Step 2: Huge fluffy ears
From the head's left side, draw a huge bumpy ear back to the head, a round patch inside. Same right.
Step 3: 2 round eyes
Just below the middle draw 2 round eyes far apart, with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Big spoon nose
Between the eyes draw one big tall oval nose and colour it black. Add a small smile under it.
Tip The nose is the most koala thing of all, so make it big.
Step 5: Round body
Start low on each cheek. Draw a big C out and down, stopping a hand above the paper's bottom.
Tip Koalas are roly-poly: the sides bow out wider than the head.
Step 6: Legs and feet
From where each side stops, draw a fat thigh out, along the foot and back. Add a tummy line between.
Tip Like a boot on its side.
Step 7: Chubby arms
From under each cheek draw a chubby arm down, bending in to a round paw on the tummy, and back.
Tip Rub out the body line inside the top of each arm, and keep it below the elbow.
Step 8: Chest patch
Start under the chin on the left. Draw a soft U down between the arms and up to the chin.
Step 9: Ground line
Under the feet draw a long flat ground line from the left side to the right.
Step 10: Toe pads
On each foot draw a big oval pad low down and 3 little round toes above it in a rainbow.
Step 11: Cream chest and ears
Colour the chest patch and the round patch inside each ear cream.
Step 12: Pink pads
Colour the big pad and the 3 little toes on each foot pink.
Step 13: Grey fur
Colour the head, ears, body, arms and legs grey, around the cream and pink parts. Leave the eyes white.
