How to Draw an Inchworm
Draw an inchworm in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Just below the middle on the left, draw an egg lying on its side. Leave room on the right.
Step 2: Two feelers
Start on top of the head. Draw 2 short curves out and stop. Add a ball on each tip.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the head draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each with a speck.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw an open smile: a flat line with a wide U under it. Add round cheeks.
Step 5: A big arched body
Start at the head. Arch a fat tube up and over like a rainbow, thinner at the round tail.
Tip The tail ends level with the head, and the hump goes high.
Step 6: Body rings
Draw 6 little curved lines across the body, spread out evenly from head to tail.
Step 7: A twig
Under the head and tail draw a long thin twig with round ends, not quite reaching the sides.
Step 8: Tiny feet
Under the head draw 2 tiny stubby feet standing on the twig. Under the tail draw 1 wider foot.
Step 9: A leaf
Near the right end of the twig draw a small pointed leaf growing up, with a line down its middle.
Step 10: Green inchworm
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the head, feeler balls, body and feet light green around the cheeks and mouth.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Green leaf, red mouth
Colour the little leaf dark green and the open mouth red.
Step 12: Brown twig
Colour the twig brown, from one round end to the other.
