How to Draw Horse Drinking Water

Step 1: The head

On the left draw a long egg tilted down: wide and round at the top, narrow at the nose.

Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the body.

Step 2: Eye and nose

Draw a big round eye with a black dot. Curve a line across the nose. Add a nostril and smile.

Tip Leave a tiny white shine in the eye.

Step 3: The ears

On top of the head draw 2 pointed leaf ears. Draw a smaller leaf inside the right one.

Step 4: Neck and back

Start behind the ears. Draw up the neck, along the back, round the bottom, and stop halfway down.

Tip The neck slopes up from the head to the shoulders.

Step 5: Chest and front leg

Draw a ground line. Start under the chin, draw the chest, a leg down to the ground, and back up.

Tip The leg gets thinner on the way down, then flares out for the hoof.

Step 6: Tummy and back leg

Start at the front leg. Draw the tummy, then a back leg that bends, and stop at the bottom.

Tip The back leg kinks backwards halfway down.

Step 7: Far legs

Draw 2 more legs peeking out from behind, each one just in front of a leg you drew.

Tip Leave a gap of paper between each pair of legs.

Step 8: Four hooves

Draw a short line across the bottom of each leg to make 4 hooves.

Step 9: The mane

Start behind the ear. Draw a row of soft bumps along the top of the neck, up to the back.

Step 10: The tail

Start on top of the bottom. Draw a long tail hanging down to a point, and back up.

Step 11: Water trough

Under the nose draw a long box on the ground. Draw a thin strip of water along its top.

Tip The nose just touches the water.

Step 12: Cream and blue

Go over your lines. Colour the nose and the inside of the ear cream. Colour the water blue.

Step 13: Brown horse

Colour the horse orange-brown. Leave the eye white. Colour the trough light brown.

Step 14: Mane, tail and hooves

Colour the mane and the tail dark brown. Colour the 4 hooves grey. Your horse is done!
