14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a kitten chasing a butterfly in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big head

Left of the middle draw a big sideways egg for the head, with chubby cheeks.

Tip Leave room on the right for the butterfly.

  2. Step 2: Pointy ears

On each top corner of the head draw a tall pointy ear. Add a small triangle inside each.

  3. Step 3: Eyes looking up

On the middle of the head draw 2 big oval eyes. Put the black dots high and to the right.

Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.

  4. Step 4: Nose and smile

Under the eyes draw a small triangle nose. Hang a W smile from its point.

  5. Step 5: Reaching paw

From under the right cheek draw an arm reaching up to a round paw, then back to the chest.

Tip The arm is thick at the shoulder and thinner before the paw. Add 2 toe lines.

  6. Step 6: Leaning back

Rule the ground low down. From under the left cheek draw the back curving down to it.

Tip The kitten stands up on its back legs, leaning forward.

  7. Step 7: Tummy and back leg

From the arm draw the tummy down to a bent knee, then a long foot out to the toes.

Tip Add a curved line inside for the top of the back leg.

  8. Step 8: Far legs

Under the reaching arm draw a second arm. Behind the foot draw the far foot peeking out.

  9. Step 9: Curly tail

From the bottom draw a thick tail swinging out to the left and up to a round tip.

  10. Step 10: Butterfly

Above the paw draw a butterfly: a thin body with 2 big top wings and 2 small bottom wings.

Tip Keep a gap between the paw and the butterfly.

  11. Step 11: Spots and toes

Draw 2 feelers on the butterfly's head and a spot on each top wing. Add toe lines to the paws.

  12. Step 12: Pink and yellow

Colour the nose and the ear middles pink. Colour the butterfly's spots yellow.

  13. Step 13: Blue wings

Colour the butterfly's wings blue, around the spots, and its body black.

  14. Step 14: Ginger kitten

Colour the kitten ginger, around the pink parts. Leave the eyes white.
