How to Draw a Hatchback
Draw a hatchback in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Start low on the left. Draw a stubby nose, a long windscreen, a flat roof and a tall back. Stop.
Tip A hatchback is a little box on wheels: the back is tall and straight.
Step 2: Belly and tyres
Start where you stopped. Draw 2 rainbow wheel arches with a flat belly, ending at the nose. Add tyres.
Step 3: Big headlight eye
On the bonnet draw a big round headlight almost as big as a tyre. Add a pupil with a shine.
Step 4: Two big windows
Inside the windscreen draw a slanted front window with a shine line. Add a big square back window behind it.
Tip The gap between the windows is the pillar behind the front door.
Step 5: Smile and cheek
Start under the eye and draw a bold U smile, stopping before the nose. Add a round cheek.
Step 6: Door and handle
Start under the front window and draw a door line down, stopping on the arch. Add an oval handle.
Step 7: Bumper, light and pipe
Add a bumper on the nose and a tail light. Draw a pipe, starting and stopping low on the back.
Step 8: Puff and road
Draw a little cloud puff behind the pipe. Start under the nose and draw a road, stopping past the puff.
Step 9: Sky windows, yellow lights
Colour both windows sky blue, leaving the shine white. Colour the headlight and tail light yellow.
Step 10: Pink cheek, teal body
Colour the cheek pink and the whole body teal around the windows, lights, cheek and handle.
Step 11: Grey bits, black tyres
Colour the hubs, bumper, handle, pipe and puff grey, and the tyres black around the hubs. Dot each hub black.
