How to Draw a Gyroscope

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a gyroscope in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big ring.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big ring

In the middle of your paper draw one big round ring, a circle as big as your fist.

  2. Step 2: The inner ring

Inside it draw a second circle, a finger in from the first, so the ring looks thick.

  3. Step 3: Hub and face

In the middle draw a round hub like a button. Add 2 oval eyes with black dots and a smile.

  4. Step 4: The spinning disc

Behind the hub draw a flat oval out to the ring. Under it draw a curve from ring to ring.

Tip The second curve shows the disc is thick, like a coin.

  5. Step 5: The cross ring

Draw a tall thin oval from the ring's top to its bottom, and a thinner one inside, behind the disc.

  6. Step 6: The axle

Draw a line from the ring's top down to the hub, and another from the hub down to the ring.

  7. Step 7: The stand

Under the ring draw a wide stem to a hill foot on a ground line. Add a knob on top.

  8. Step 8: Yellow hub

Go over your lines, then colour the hub yellow. Leave the eyes white.

  9. Step 9: Grey rings

Colour the big ring, the cross ring and the knob grey.

  10. Step 10: Brown stand, red disc

Colour the stand wood brown, and the disc red around the hub. Your gyroscope is done!
