How to Draw a Groundhog
Draw a groundhog in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.
Step 1: Head and ears
Near the top draw a wide head with fat cheeks. Add a small round ear on each top corner.
Tip Leave plenty of room under it: the body is bigger than the head.
Step 2: Snout and nose
Low on the face draw a wide oval snout. Add a black nose sitting on its top edge.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the snout draw 2 big round eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and teeth
From the nose draw a short line down to a w smile. Hang 2 buck teeth under it.
Step 5: Whiskers
Draw 2 short whiskers on each side. Start on the snout and stop before the edge of the head.
Step 6: Big round body
Start under the left cheek. Draw a big pear body with a flat bottom, stopping under the right cheek.
Tip Make the body taller and a bit wider than the head.
Step 7: Left arm and paw
Start on the left under the cheek. Slope an arm in to a round mitten with 2 toe lines.
Step 8: Right arm and paw
Start on the right side under the cheek. Draw the other arm the same way, paws side by side.
Step 9: Two little feet
At the bottom of the tummy draw 2 round feet pointing at you. Add 2 toe lines to each.
Tip Rub out the body line inside each foot.
Step 10: Bushy tail
Start low on the right side. Draw a short bushy tail with 3 soft bumps, stopping on the body.
Tip Make it thinner toward the tip.
Step 11: The ground
Draw one long flat ground line under the feet, from one side of the page to the other.
Step 12: Cream snout, tan tummy
Colour the snout cream, leaving the buck teeth white. Colour the tummy tan, but not the arms or feet.
Step 13: Brown fur
Colour the head brown around the snout and eyes, and the ears, arms, feet and tail brown too.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
