How to Draw a Graduate
Draw a graduate in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.
Step 1: Head and ears
Near the top draw an egg head. From each side draw a C ear, back to the head.
Tip Leave a little room above for the flat cap.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 round eyes with black dots, a little nose, a smile and 2 eyebrows.
Step 3: Cap band
Start on the left of the head above the eyebrows. Draw a band across the forehead and over the top.
Step 4: The flat board
On top of the band draw a wide diamond for the flat board, much wider than the head.
Step 5: Tassel
Draw a small circle on the board. Draw a cord from it to the right point, down to a tassel.
Step 6: Neck and gown
Draw 2 neck lines and a V. From one, draw the gown out, down, across and up to the other.
Step 7: Sleeves and hands
From each top gown corner draw a bell sleeve down to the wrist, back to the gown. Add mitten hands.
Step 8: Diploma
Through the right hand draw a long rolled diploma sticking out both sides. Add a short ribbon line.
Step 9: Shoes and ground
Start on the hem and draw 2 tiny ankle lines down to each shoe. Draw a ground line across.
Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck, hands and ankles peach, leaving the eyes white. Add pink cheeks.
Step 11: Yellow tassel, red ribbon
Colour the tassel and button yellow and the ribbon red. The diploma stays white.
Step 12: Navy gown and cap
Colour the shoes brown. Colour the gown, sleeves, cap band and board navy, around the hands, diploma and button.
