11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a gorilla beating its chest in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, wider than tall. It is half the gorilla.

Tip Full cheeks, flatter chin. Leave room underneath for the body.

  2. Step 2: Pointy top and ears

Draw a tall dome on top of the head, from the left side over to the right. Add C ears.

  3. Step 3: Heart face and eyes

Inside the head draw a big sideways heart face. Add a thick brow across its top and 2 big eyes.

  4. Step 4: Nose and smile

Colour 2 nostril dots. Below them draw a wide D smile. Colour it black with a pink tongue.

  5. Step 5: Wide body

From each cheek draw a wide C down for the body. Join them. Add a big tummy oval.

  6. Step 6: Bent arms and fists

From each side draw a thick bent arm, elbow out, up to a round fist on the chest.

Tip Both fists sit side by side under the chin, like 2 balls.

  7. Step 7: Thump lines

Beside each elbow draw 2 short curved lines to show the thumping. Leave a little gap from the arm.

  8. Step 8: Two feet

From the body's bottom draw 2 short legs down to bun feet. Add an ankle line and 2 toes each.

Tip Leave a small gap between the feet. They are chunky, like 2 buns.

  9. Step 9: The ground

Draw a long ground line right under the feet, from one side of the paper to the other.

  10. Step 10: Grey face and chest

Colour the face, inner ears, tummy, fists and feet light grey, and the brow dark grey. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Dark grey fur

Colour the head, ears, body, arms and legs dark grey, around the light parts. Your gorilla is done!
