How to Draw a Girl Riding a Horse

Step 1: Pony head

On the left draw a sideways pony head like a fat peanut: a round cheek and a smaller nose.

Tip Leave room above for the rider.

Step 2: Eye and ears

Draw 1 big eye with a black dot. Add a nostril, a smile and 2 pointy ears on top.

Step 3: Neck and back

Start behind the ears. Draw down the thick neck, along the back and round the bottom. Stop half way down.

Step 4: Fluffy mane

Draw a fluffy forelock between the ears and the eye. Add 3 fat bumps of mane down the neck.

Step 5: Front leg

Draw a ground line. Start under the cheek. Draw the chest down into a leg, then back up and stop.

Step 6: Tummy and back leg

Start at the front leg. Draw a round tummy, a back leg down and up, and stop at the bottom.

Step 7: Far legs, hooves

Under the tummy draw 2 more legs peeking out. Draw a short line across each leg for 4 hooves.

Step 8: Bushy tail

Start on top of the bottom. Draw a bushy tail down to a soft point, then back up.

Step 9: Saddle and leg

On the back draw a saddle with a flap hanging down. Over it draw a bent leg and a boot.

Tip She sits in the saddle, so you see 1 leg. The other is on the far side.

Step 10: Jacket and rein

Draw the body, a bent arm and a fist. Start a rein at the chin and stop at the fist.

Step 11: Head and helmet

Draw a round head with 2 dot eyes and a smile. Add a helmet with a peak and a ponytail.

Step 12: Peach and cream

Colour the girl's face and fist peach. Colour the mane, forelock, tail and her trousers cream.

Step 13: Ginger and blue

Colour the pony ginger, leaving its eye white. Colour the jacket and sleeve blue.

Step 14: Brown and dark grey

Colour the saddle, boot and ponytail brown. Colour the helmet and the 4 hooves dark grey.
