How to Draw a Fishing Rod
Draw a fishing rod in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rod.
Step 1: The rod
Draw a long thin rod leaning from bottom left to top right, fat at the handle end.
Tip Nearly corner to corner, thin like a straw.
Step 2: Handle and reel
Mark the handle end with a short line. From just above it draw a short stalk out to a round reel.
Step 3: The crank
From the middle of the reel draw a short line out and down, with a small knob on its end.
Step 4: Line guides
Along the top edge of the rod draw 3 tiny circles, spaced out, for the line to run through.
Step 5: The fishing line
Start at the tip of the rod. Draw a thin line hanging down in a curve; stop above the water.
Step 6: The float
At the end of the line draw a small float. From under it draw the line down to a hook.
Step 7: Water
Draw a wavy line of 5 bumps through the float, starting left of it and stopping at the right edge.
Step 8: A fish
Under the water draw a fish: an egg body, a triangle tail, a round eye, a gill and a smile.
Step 9: Bubbles and sparkles
Draw 2 little bubbles by the fish's mouth and 2 four-point sparkles in the air.
Step 10: Yellow and tan
Colour the sparkles yellow and the rod tan, down to the handle line.
Step 11: Orange and red
Colour the fish orange around its white eye, and the top half of the float red.
Step 12: Grey and brown
Colour the reel grey and the handle brown. Go over your lines and you are done!
