How to Draw a Feather Boa

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a feather boa in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The top

Start on the left, near the top. Draw a rainbow arch of soft bumps and stop level on the right.

Tip Make every bump the same size, like a row of little clouds.

  2. Step 2: The left side

Start at the arch's left end. Carry the same bumps down the left side and stop past the middle.

  3. Step 3: The right side

Start at the arch's right end. Carry the bumps down the right side and stop a little higher up.

  4. Step 4: The left end

Start at the bottom left. Bump round a fluffy end and up the inside, and stop below the arch.

  5. Step 5: The right end

Start at the bottom right. Bump round a fluffy end and up the inside, and stop below the arch.

  6. Step 6: Inside the arch

Start where one inside line stops. Draw a small arch of bumps across to the other one.

  7. Step 7: Feathers

On the boa draw 3 slanting feathers: a long thin leaf shape with a line down its middle.

Tip Keep every feather inside the fluffy edge.

  8. Step 8: The neck

In the gap under the arch draw a small flat oval, like a coin lying down. This is the neck.

  9. Step 9: The body

Start beside the neck. Draw sloping shoulders, a narrow waist and wide hips behind the boa, and a flat bottom.

Tip The boa hangs in front, so the body lines stop at its bumps.

  10. Step 10: The stand

Start under the body, draw a pole down, stop at a wide oval base. Add a rim and floor line.

  11. Step 11: Sand body

Colour the body sand and the neck oval cream. Stop at the boa's bumps and leave the boa white.

  12. Step 12: Pink boa

Colour the whole fluffy boa bright pink, feathers and all.

  13. Step 13: Wood brown stand

Colour the pole and the base wood brown. Your feather boa is ready for dressing up!
