How to Draw a Dog Catching a Disc

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a dog catching a disc in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head, mouth open.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head, mouth open

Near the top right draw a round head with a snout. Open its mouth wide, like a V.

Tip The lower jaw is shorter than the top of the snout.

  2. Step 2: Flying disc

Draw a long flat oval in the open mouth, poking out in front. Add a curved line inside.

Tip Rub out the mouth lines inside the disc. Caught it!

  3. Step 3: Eye and nose

Draw a big oval eye with a black dot and a shine. Add a black nose on the snout tip.

  4. Step 4: Flying ears

Draw a long floppy ear flying back from the top of the head. A second ear peeks out above it.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the floppy ear.

  5. Step 5: Neck and back

Start behind the head. Draw the neck down, a long back, then curl round the bottom and stop.

  6. Step 6: Chest and front leg

Start under the jaw. Draw a round chest, a leg reaching forward, a paw, and stop underneath. Add 2 toes.

Tip The leg bends at the elbow, under the chest.

  7. Step 7: Tummy and back leg

From the front leg draw the tummy up to the waist, then a bent leg kicking back. Add 2 toes.

Tip The back leg bends twice, like a flat Z.

  8. Step 8: Far legs

Draw 2 more legs peeking out below, under the front leg and under the back leg. Add a toe each.

  9. Step 9: Flying tail

Start on top of the bottom. Draw a thick tail flying up and back to a thin round tip.

  10. Step 10: Whoosh lines

Under the tummy draw 3 short lines to show how fast the dog flies.

  11. Step 11: Light brown coat

Colour the dog light brown, around the eye, the 2 ears and the disc.

  12. Step 12: Brown ears, blue disc

Colour both ears dark brown and the flying disc blue. Go over your lines!
