How to Draw an Elasmosaurus
Draw an elasmosaurus in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: little head.
Step 1: Little head
Near the top left, draw a small smooth egg for the head, lying on its side, rounder end left.
Tip The head is tiny, no bigger than your thumb. The neck will be huge.
Step 2: Eye, nostril, smile
Draw a big black eye under the brow with a shine. Dot a nostril. Smile from snout back to cheek.
Tip Even a tiny head gets a big eye.
Step 3: Long neck
Draw 2 long neck lines sloping down right: from behind the head, and from the chin down to the water.
Tip As long as the whole body: thin at the head, wide at the shoulders.
Step 4: Round back
From the end of the back neck line, curve up over a big round back and down to the water.
Tip Only the head, neck and round back show above the waves.
Step 5: The sea
Under the neck and back, draw a row of wave bumps right across the paper, edge to edge.
Tip The waves hide the rest of the body.
Step 6: Leaf flipper
Low on the side of the body, just above the waves, draw a long leaf flipper pointing back.
Tip Round at the front end, pointy at the back end.
Step 7: Bubbles
In the sea in front of the neck, draw 3 round bubbles: big, medium, small.
Step 8: Cream throat
Draw a line inside the front of the neck, from the chin to the water. Colour that stripe cream.
Step 9: Blue water
Colour the sea blue, from the waves down to the bottom of the paper.
Step 10: Teal body
Go over your lines. Colour the head, neck, back and flipper teal, around the cream throat. Leave the eye white.
