How to Draw a Dress Up Box
Draw a dress up box in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: box and ground.
Step 1: Box and ground
Draw a wide box with soft bottom corners. Add a long ground line under it.
Tip Leave lots of room above the box for the dressing-up things.
Step 2: The back rim
Start at the left corner. Slant up, draw a line across, slant down, and stop at the right corner.
Tip Now the box looks open, with no lid.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the front of the box, a bit to the right, draw 2 big egg eyes. Add black dots.
Tip Leave room on the left for the cape.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add an oval cheek at each end.
Step 5: Wizard hat
Above the box, draw a tall cone with a bent tip. Draw a flat oval brim round its bottom.
Tip The front of the brim hides inside the box.
Step 6: Band and star
Near the bottom of the hat, draw a curved band line. Draw a big star above it.
Step 7: A crown
Beside the hat, start on the box edge. Zigzag up and down for 3 points and stop on the edge.
Tip Make the middle point the tallest.
Step 8: Crown jewels
On each point of the crown, draw a ball. Draw a diamond gem in the middle.
Step 9: A magic wand
Start on the edge at the right corner. Draw a thin leaning stick and a big star on its end.
Step 10: A cape
At the left corner, draw a cape flopping down to the ground. Give it a wavy hem and 2 folds.
Tip The cape hides the left edge of the box.
Step 11: Yellow things
Colour the crown, its 3 balls, the wand star, the hat star and the hat band yellow.
Step 12: Red and pink
Colour the cape and the gem red. Colour the wand stick and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 13: Purple hat
Colour the wizard hat and its brim purple, around the yellow star and band.
Step 14: Brown box
Go over your lines. Colour the box brown, inside too, around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Tip Colour the dressing-up things first and the box last.
