How to Draw a Door Knocker

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a door knocker in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: door and floor.

Print

  1. Step 1: Door and floor

Draw a floor line from side to side. Stand the door on it, a tall box ending near the top.

  2. Step 2: The mane

In the upper middle of the door draw a big circle of soft round bumps, like a cloud.

  3. Step 3: Face and eyes

Inside the mane draw a round face with 2 big oval eyes. Colour a black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: The ears

On each side of the top of the face draw a small round ear, half hidden behind the face.

  5. Step 5: Nose and mouth

Draw a triangle nose under the eyes, then 2 mouth curves from its point, and 3 whisker dots each side.

  6. Step 6: The ring

Hanging from the mouth draw a big ring: a circle over the chin, with a smaller circle inside.

Tip Rub out the mane where the ring covers it.

  7. Step 7: The striker plate

Under the ring draw a small flat box with soft corners. The ring knocks on this plate.

  8. Step 8: The door panel

Inside the door draw a second box a little way in from the edges, for the panel.

  9. Step 9: Sparkles

On the door beside the ring draw 2 little sparkles, one each side, to make it shine.

  10. Step 10: Brass lion

Colour the mane, face, ears and ring yellow for brass. Leave the eyes and the ring's hole white.

  11. Step 11: Brass plate, yellow sparkles

Colour the plate and the 2 sparkles yellow too.

  12. Step 12: Wood door, black nose

Go over your lines. Colour the door brown around the yellow parts and inside the ring, then the nose black.
