How to Draw a Camouflage Pattern
Draw a camouflage pattern in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the square.
Step 1: The square
In the middle of your paper draw a big square with softly rounded corners, nearly as big as your page.
Step 2: First green patch
Start on the top edge. Draw a wobbly line down and round to the left edge, cutting off the corner.
Tip Camouflage patches are wobbly, like puddles. No two are the same.
Step 3: Second green patch
Start on the right edge. Draw a big wobbly bump out into the square and back to the edge.
Step 4: Third green patch
Start on the bottom edge. Draw a long low wobbly hill that stops on the bottom edge again.
Tip Leave wide gaps between the patches for now.
Step 5: First brown patch
Start on the first patch. Draw a wobbly patch peeking out below it and stop on it again.
Tip It looks tucked under the green patch, like one puddle under another.
Step 6: Two brown patches
Draw a wobbly patch hanging from the top edge, and one more on the right edge, low down.
Step 7: Small dark patches
Draw 4 small wobbly patches in the gaps: 2 in the middle, 1 on the left edge, 1 below.
Tip Make each one a different size and shape.
Step 8: Sandy background
Go over your lines. Colour only the gaps between the patches a light sandy colour.
Tip Colour round every patch. The patches stay white for now.
Step 9: Green patches
Colour the 3 big patches green.
Step 10: Brown patches
Colour the 3 patches you drew next brown.
Step 11: Black patches
Colour the 4 small patches black. Your camouflage pattern is done!

Your finished drawing
