How to Draw Couscous
Draw couscous in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little below the middle draw a wide flat oval for the top of the bowl, about a hand across.
Step 2: The bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a big U down and round, up to the right end.
Step 3: Foot and table
From the bowl bottom draw a short stand down, across and up to the bowl. Add a table line below.
Step 4: A heap of couscous
On top of the bowl draw a smooth rounded heap from one end of the rim to the other.
Step 5: Carrots and chickpeas
On the heap draw a round carrot slice on the left, a carrot stick on the right, and 3 chickpeas.
Step 6: Zucchini and mint
Draw a half-round of zucchini left of the middle, and 2 mint leaves on the left, each with a vein.
Step 7: Tiny grains
Scatter 6 tiny short dashes over the heap, tilted different ways, for the grains of couscous.
Tip Couscous is made of tiny, tiny grains.
Step 8: A spoon
Draw a short line on the right, a half-oval spoon starting and ending on it, and a handle leaning out.
Step 9: Bowl stripes
Draw 2 bowed stripes round the bowl under the rim, from one side across to the other.
Step 10: Sand couscous, white bowl
Go over your lines, then colour the heap sand. Leave the bowl and its foot white.
Step 11: Orange carrot, tan chickpeas
Colour the carrot pieces orange and the chickpeas tan.
Step 12: Green zucchini and mint
Colour the zucchini and the mint leaves green.
Step 13: Blue band, grey spoon
Colour the band between the stripes blue and the spoon grey.
