How to Draw a Christmas Dragon

Step 1: Wide soft head

Above the middle of your paper draw a big soft head, wider than tall, widest low down.

Tip Leave room above for the hat and below for the body.

Step 2: Friendly face

Draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots and shines. Add 2 small nostrils and a wide U smile.

Tip Keep the nostrils small and close together.

Step 3: Body and feet

Under the head draw a pear body, widest low down. Add 2 flat feet with 2 toe lines each.

Tip The body is narrower than the head.

Step 4: Horns and ears

On each top corner draw a curved horn. Below it, on the side, draw a pointed ear.

Tip Each one starts and stops on the head line.

Step 5: Fur band

Across the top of the head, draw a long fat sausage from horn to horn.

Tip This is the fluffy white edge of a Santa hat. Rub out the lines inside it.

Step 6: Hat and pom-pom

From the band draw a tall hill that tips over to the right. Put a round pom-pom on its tip.

Step 7: A present

On the tummy draw a box with a wider lid. Add a ribbon down the middle and a bow.

Step 8: Arms and paws

Start under each cheek. Draw an arm down the side to a round paw on the box, then back up.

Tip The arm gets thinner at the wrist. Rub out the body line inside it.

Step 9: Bat wings

Behind each arm draw a wing: out to a point, 2 scoops along the bottom, back to the body.

Tip Add one line from the top point to the middle point.

Step 10: Arrow tail

From the right hip, draw a tail along the ground, getting thinner. End it in a triangle.

Step 11: The ground

Start at the left. Draw a straight ground line under the feet and tail. Stop at the right.

Step 12: Pink and yellow

Dab 2 pink cheeks. Colour the 2 horns, both wings and the tail tip yellow.

Step 13: Blue box, red hat

Colour the box and lid blue. Colour the hat, ribbon and bow red. Leave the band and pom-pom white.

Step 14: Green dragon

Colour the head, ears, body, arms, feet and tail green, around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
