How to Draw a Cat Stretching
Draw a cat stretching in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small head.
Step 1: Small head
Low on the left, draw a small egg head on its side, with chubby cheeks and fur points.
Tip The head is small and low: the body will rise up behind it.
Step 2: Pointy ears
On each top corner of the head, draw a tall pointy ear leaning out, with a small triangle inside.
Tip Ears lean out a little, like a cat listening.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Across the head's middle, draw 2 big oval eyes, an eye apart. Add a black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: Nose and W smile
Below the eyes, draw an upside-down triangle nose and colour it in. Hang a wide W smile from its point.
Step 5: Arched back
From behind the head, arch the back up to a high round bottom, then along the belly. Stop halfway.
Tip The bottom is the highest point, higher than the head: that's the stretch.
Step 6: Stretched front legs
From under the chin, stretch a flat leg to a round paw, ending at the belly. Add a paw behind.
Step 7: Tall back legs
Under the bottom, draw a back leg, fat on top, bending slim at the ankle. Add the far leg behind.
Step 8: Curly tail
From the top of the bottom, draw a thick tail curling up like a question mark, thin at the tip.
Step 9: Whiskers and stripes
Draw 3 whiskers out from each cheek. Add 3 short stripes on the forehead and 3 on the back.
Step 10: The ground
Draw the ground line under the paws, from left to right under the whole cat.
Step 11: Cream paws, pink ears
Colour all 4 paws cream and the inside of the ears pink.
Step 12: Ginger fur
Colour the cat ginger around the paws, ear insides and nose. Keep the eyes white. Your cat is done!
