How to Draw a Cargo Ship
Draw a cargo ship in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waves.
Step 1: The waves
Start at the left edge, below the middle. Draw gentle wave bumps across and stop at the right edge.
Step 2: The hull
Start on the waves left of the middle. Sweep up round the front, along the deck, down to the waves.
Tip Never draw the bottom of the boat: it is under the water.
Step 3: Porthole eyes
On the hull, draw 2 big round portholes for eyes. Colour a pupil in each, leaving a white sparkle.
Step 4: The smile
Start a little below the left eye. Draw a U smile across and stop a little below the right eye.
Step 5: Containers
Draw 3 sharp-cornered boxes, starting and stopping on the deck. Stack 2 on top. Add 2 up-and-down lines in each.
Step 6: The bridge
Near the back, start on the deck and draw a tall arch, taller than the boxes, back to the deck.
Step 7: Funnel and smoke
Start on the bridge roof. Draw a short fat chimney up and back down to the roof. Add smoke puffs.
Step 8: Mast and flag
From the front deck, draw a tall post up and back down to it. Add a ball and flag.
Step 9: Blue sea, sky windows
Colour the sea blue from the waves down to the bottom. Colour the bridge windows sky blue.
Step 10: Blue and orange containers
Colour the 3 bottom containers blue and the 2 top containers orange.
Step 11: Navy hull, red funnel
Colour the hull navy around the eyes. Colour the funnel red with a black top, and the flag red.
Tip Leave the eyes, bridge, mast and smoke white. Off to sea!
