How to Draw a Car Wash

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a car wash in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: nose, roof and boot.

Print

  1. Step 1: Nose, roof and boot

Start low left. Go round a nose, along the bonnet, over a big dome and boot bump. Stop low right.

Tip One smooth stroke, no kinks: bonnet low, dome high, boot small.

  2. Step 2: Belly, arches and tyres

Start where you stopped. Draw an arch, a flat belly, another arch, stop at the nose. Add 2 tyres.

Tip Tyres hang under the arches with a little air; hubs are half as wide.

  3. Step 3: Headlight eye and smile

Draw a round headlight eye on the bonnet. Under it, draw a small U smile, narrower than the eye.

Tip Give the eye a black pupil and 2 white shines, with a ring of body all round.

  4. Step 4: Windows and pillars

Start above the bonnet. Draw a big window inside the dome, back to the start. Add 2 pillars splitting it.

Tip Keep a strip of body between the window and the dome.

  5. Step 5: Door and bumper

From the back pillar, draw a door line down to the arch. Add a handle, tail light and nose bumper.

Tip The bumper starts on the nose and stops back on the nose.

  6. Step 6: Road and shine

Draw one long straight road line under both tyres. Add a shine dash in the windscreen.

  7. Step 7: The wash arch

Around the car, draw a big square doorway frame from the road, up, over and down. Add an inner line.

Tip It is the car wash tunnel seen from the side.

  8. Step 8: Two spinning brushes

Hang 2 rods from the beam, one each end. Give each a tall fluffy brush with bumpy sides.

Tip Each rod starts on the beam and runs down the middle to the bottom of its brush.

  9. Step 9: Bubbles and drops

Above the car, draw 4 soap bubbles of different sizes, and 3 little water drops falling from the beam.

  10. Step 10: Sky windows, yellow lights

Colour the windows sky blue, leaving the shine white. Colour the headlight and tail light yellow, keeping the pupil black.

  11. Step 11: Blue brushes, water drops

Colour both brushes and the water drops blue. Leave the bubbles white.

  12. Step 12: Colour the car red

Colour a pink cheek behind the eye. Colour the body red around the windows, lights, handle and cheek.

  13. Step 13: Grey bits, black tyres

Go over your lines. Colour the hubs, bumper, handle and big frame grey, then the tyres black around the hubs.
