How to Draw a Calavera
Draw a calavera in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the skull.
Step 1: The skull
Draw a big skull in the middle of your paper: a wide round dome with a narrower jaw below.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the dome draw 2 big round eyes. Add a big black dot with a white shine.
Step 3: Flower eyes
Round each eye draw a ring of 5 little circles like petals, with a small gap from the eye.
Step 4: Heart nose and smile
Between the eyes draw a small upside-down heart nose. Under it draw a wide U smile from eye to eye.
Step 5: Stitches
Draw 3 short up-and-down lines across the smile, like stitches.
Step 6: Forehead flower
High on the forehead draw a small circle with 5 round teardrop petals round it, one pointing up.
Step 7: Curls and sparkles
On each cheek draw a C curl with a tiny hook. Add a sparkle star each side of the skull.
Step 8: Ground line
Start left of the skull and draw a ground line under the chin, across to the right.
Step 9: White skull, pink petals
Go over your lines, then colour the skull white and the little petal circles pink. Keep the eyes white.
Step 10: Yellow flower, sparkles
Colour the forehead petals and the two sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Orange middle, purple nose
Colour the flower's middle orange and the heart nose purple. Your calavera is ready for the fiesta!
