How to Draw a Bow and Arrow

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a bow and arrow in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bow.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bow

Start near the top, left of the middle. Draw one big curve bulging right, down to near the bottom.

Tip Make the top half and the bottom half match.

  2. Step 2: Thick bow

Start at the top tip. Draw a second curve just inside the first and stop at the bottom tip.

Tip Leave the widest gap in the middle and almost none at the tips.

  3. Step 3: The string

Start at the top tip. Draw a straight line to a point far left, then back to the bottom tip.

Tip Put the point level with the middle of the bow.

  4. Step 4: The grip

Around the middle of the bow draw a small soft box, the hand grip. Rub out the lines inside it.

  5. Step 5: Arrow shaft

Start at the string's point. Draw 2 long lines close together, behind the grip, and stop past the bow.

Tip Use a ruler if you like. Skip over the grip.

  6. Step 6: The arrowhead

On the right end draw a pointed head: from the top line out to a sharp point and back.

Tip Make the 2 back corners stick out the same.

  7. Step 7: The notch

On the left end draw a little notch with 2 points, from the top line to the bottom line.

  8. Step 8: Top feather

Near the notch draw a feather on top of the shaft, low at the front, tall at the back.

Tip Keep the feather clear of the string.

  9. Step 9: Bottom feather

Draw the same feather under the shaft, a mirror of the first.

  10. Step 10: Feather lines

Inside each feather draw 3 short slanted lines from the shaft out to the feather's edge.

  11. Step 11: Tan shaft, grey head

Go over your lines. Colour the arrow shaft tan and the arrowhead grey.

  12. Step 12: Red feathers and grip

Colour the 2 feathers and the hand grip red.

  13. Step 13: Brown bow

Colour the bow brown, above and below the grip. Your bow and arrow is done!
