How to Draw a Blue Heeler Puppy

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a blue heeler puppy in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big head

Near the top, draw a big soft egg head, a little wider than tall, with fat cheeks low down.

Tip Puppies have big heads: more than half the puppy. Leave room below.

  2. Step 2: Tall pointy ears

From the top left of the head, draw a tall pointed ear up and back down to it. Same right.

Tip Draw a smaller triangle inside each ear.

  3. Step 3: Two huge eyes

Just above the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and a white shine.

  4. Step 4: Snout and nose

Under the eyes, draw a wide oval snout inside the head. Sit a black triangle nose on top of it.

  5. Step 5: Smile and tongue

From the nose, draw a line down, then a w out each way, stopping inside the snout. Add a tongue.

  6. Step 6: The body

Start under each cheek. Draw a big C out and down to the bottom, where the puppy sits.

Tip The body is only a little wider than the head.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Start at the left. Draw a long flat line across the bottom, touching both body lines, to the right.

  8. Step 8: Front legs

From under the chin, draw 2 legs down to round paws. Join their insides with a low arch.

Tip Each leg gets thinner, then puffs out into a paw. Add 2 short toe lines.

  9. Step 9: Back paws

At each bottom corner, draw a hill paw on the ground, tucked behind the front paw. Add a toe line.

  10. Step 10: Swoopy tail

Start low on the right side. Swoop a fat tail up to a round tip, then back to the side.

  11. Step 11: Fur tuft

Start on the head line between the ears. Draw 3 small round bumps and stop back on the line.

  12. Step 12: Patch and spots

Draw a soft patch round the right eye, reaching up toward the ear. Add 2 round spots on the body.

  13. Step 13: Sky-blue fur

Colour the fur sky blue around the patch, spots and inner ears. Leave the eyes, snout and tongue white.

  14. Step 14: Pink and navy

Colour the tongue pink, then the patch, spots and inner ears navy.
