How to Draw a Bitter Melon
Draw a bitter melon in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the melon.
Step 1: The melon
Across the middle, draw a long bumpy melon lying down, fat in the middle and pointed at both ends.
Tip Make the bumps small soft hills all the way round, like a row of pebbles.
Step 2: A stem
From the left point, draw a short stem curving up, thick at the melon and thin at the top.
Step 3: A leaf
On the top of the stem, draw a big pointed leaf reaching up to the right.
Step 4: Leaf vein
Start at the stem and draw one curved vein up the middle of the leaf, stopping before the tip.
Step 5: Middle ridge
From near the left point, draw a bumpy line of little hills along the middle to near the right point.
Step 6: Two more ridges
Draw 2 shorter bumpy lines of hills, one above the middle ridge and one below, stopping before the points.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a ground line under the melon from far left to far right, just touching its bottom.
Step 8: Green melon
Go over your lines, then colour the whole melon light green.
Step 9: Dark green leaf
Colour the leaf dark green.
Step 10: Brown stem
Colour the stem brown, and your bitter melon is done!
