How to Draw a Bass Drum
Draw a bass drum in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big hoop.
Step 1: The big hoop
In the middle of your paper, draw one huge round circle, nearly as wide as the paper.
Tip Go slowly and make it as round as you can.
Step 2: The drum head
Inside the big circle, draw a second circle a finger in from the edge, making a thick ring.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes with a gap between. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a big U smile, and a small oval cheek out on each side.
Step 5: The drum's side
From the top of the big circle, draw a curve bulging past its left side down to the bottom.
Tip This thin moon shape is the side of the drum, so it looks deep, not flat.
Step 6: Eight lugs
Around the hoop ring, draw 8 small dots evenly spaced, like the numbers on a clock.
Step 7: The mallet
On the right, draw a long thin stick standing up beside the drum, with a soft round ball on top.
Tip Keep the stick long and the ball small, so it looks like a mallet.
Step 8: Legs and ground
Draw 2 little triangle legs under the drum. Draw a long ground line under them, from left to right.
Step 9: Music notes
Draw a music note floating above each side of the drum, a round dot with a stem and a flag.
Step 10: Cream head
Colour the drum head and the mallet ball cream, going around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, grey lugs
Colour the cheeks pink and the 8 lugs grey.
Step 12: Brown stick, blue notes
Colour the mallet stick wood brown and the music notes blue.
Step 13: Red drum
Go over your lines, then colour the hoop, the drum's side and the legs red, going around the lugs. Boom!
