How to Draw an Aircraft Carrier
Draw an aircraft carrier in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hull.
Step 1: The hull
Below the middle, draw a long low hull nearly as wide as the page: flat top, slanted front, rounded bottom.
Tip An aircraft carrier is a floating runway: very long and flat.
Step 2: The flight deck
On top of the hull, draw a long thin box poking past both ends. Add dashes along the middle.
Step 3: The island tower
On the right half of the deck, draw a tall tower that gets narrower toward the top, like stacked blocks.
Step 4: Windows and radar
Draw a long window near the top of the tower and another lower down. Put a radar dish on top.
Step 5: Flag
A little to the left of the tower, draw a thin tall flagpole with a small pointed flag on top.
Step 6: A parked jet
Just above the left of the deck, draw a small jet: slim body, pointed nose, swept wing, tail fin, canopy.
Step 7: A jet taking off
Above the right end of the deck, clear of the tower, draw a second smaller jet tilted up, taking off.
Step 8: Waves
Draw wave bumps from the left edge to the right. Add a lower row. The waves hide the hull bottom.
Step 9: Sun and cloud
Near the top left, draw a sun with 8 short rays. Add a puffy cloud in the sky.
Step 10: Yellow sun, red flag
Colour the sun yellow and the little flag red.
Step 11: Sky blue glass
Colour the 2 tower windows and the 2 jet canopies sky blue.
Step 12: Grey ship
Go over your lines. Colour the hull, deck, tower, radar and flagpole grey, around the blue windows.
Step 13: Dark grey jets
Colour both jets dark grey, around their blue canopies.
Step 14: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue from the top wave down to the bottom of the paper.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: an aircraft carrier, drawn by you.
