How to Draw a Trimaran
Draw a trimaran in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle hull.
Step 1: The middle hull
Below the middle draw a tall tub like a big cup, with room each side. Add 3 round portholes.
Tip A trimaran has 3 hulls: a big one and 2 small ones.
Step 2: 2 side hulls
Draw a smaller tub on each side of the big hull, a gap away, both a little shorter.
Step 3: The beams
Join the hulls with 2 flat beams near their tops: left hull to middle hull, middle hull to right hull.
Step 4: The mast
From the middle hull draw a tall post almost to the top of the paper. Add a ball on top.
Step 5: The big sail
Start on the mast below the ball. Draw a big belly curve down to a point over the right hull.
Step 6: The front sail
Start lower on the left of the mast. Draw a belly curve down to a point over the hull.
Step 7: Flag and band
Under the ball draw a short flag streaming left from the mast. Add a band across the big sail.
Step 8: Waves
From the left edge draw wave bumps across the hull bottoms to the right edge. Add a lower row.
Step 9: The sun
In the top left corner draw a circle for the sun with 8 short rays all around.
Step 10: Yellow sun, blue sea
Colour the sun yellow, then the sea blue from the top wave down.
Step 11: Teal hulls, red flag
Colour all 3 hulls teal down to the water, leaving the portholes white. Colour the flag and the band red.
Step 12: Brown mast and beams
Colour the beams, mast and ball brown. Leave the sails white. Your trimaran is ready to sail!
