How to Draw a Seagull Flying
Draw a seagull flying in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Start on the left of your paper. Curve up over a big round head and stop low at the back.
Step 2: Long beak
From the head's front, draw a long beak to a droopy tip. Stop under the head and close it.
Tip Make the beak about half as long as the head.
Step 3: Big shiny eye
Draw a big eye with a black dot and shine. Add a mouth line from beak tip to base.
Step 4: Long body
From the head's back, draw a long back to a round end. Curve under the tummy to the beak.
Tip The body lies level, like a little boat.
Step 5: Big pointed wing
Start on the back behind the head. Draw a long narrow wing up to a point, then back down.
Tip A gull's wing is long and narrow, like a blade.
Step 6: Other wing
From the back, draw a thin strip up beside the big wing to a point. Stop on the big wing.
Step 7: Short tail
From the round end, draw a short fan tail out behind, a little wider at the end.
Step 8: Tip lines
Near the points, curve a line across each wing, edge to edge, for the black tips.
Step 9: Calm sea
Low on your paper, draw a gentle wavy line from the left edge to the right edge.
Step 10: Yellow beak, red spot
Colour the beak yellow around a tiny spot near the tip. Colour the spot red. Leave the eye white.
Tip Leave the head and body white too.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue under the wavy line, all the way across and down to the bottom.
Step 12: Grey wings and tail
Colour both wings grey up to their tip lines. Colour the short tail grey too.
Step 13: Black wing tips
Colour the 2 wing tips black. Your seagull is gliding over the sea!
