How to Draw a Mule
Draw a mule in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left, draw a big egg head, a little taller than wide. Leave room on the right.
Tip A big head is what makes it cute.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
At the middle of the head draw 2 big eyes. Below, draw an egg snout with nostrils and a smile.
Step 3: The ears
On each top corner of the head draw a tall leaf ear, with a smaller leaf inside.
Step 4: The neck
Start behind the head. Slope a long neck line down to the right. Add a shorter one under the snout.
Step 5: The body
From the neck draw a big bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy, up to the chest.
Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder and higher than the chest.
Step 6: The mane
Start on the head. Draw round bumps along the neck line for the mane, and stop on the back.
Step 7: Two legs
From the chest draw a front leg to a hoof. Add a back leg from the bottom to a hoof.
Tip A hoof is a little doorstop with a flat bottom.
Step 8: Far legs and ground
Draw 2 thinner legs peeking out, one by each leg, down to hooves. Add a ground line under the hooves.
Step 9: The tail
Start on the top corner of the bottom. Draw a thin tail hanging down and stop at a leaf-shaped tuft.
Step 10: Cream snout, peach ears
Go over your lines. Colour the snout cream and the ear insides peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Colour it wood
Colour the mule wood brown around the snout and ear insides, but not the mane, tuft or hooves.
Step 12: Brown mane, slate hooves
Colour the mane and the tail tuft brown, and the 4 hooves slate.
