How to Draw a Lion
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg face.
Step 1: Egg face
Near the top, draw a fat egg face with fat cheeks and a soft flat chin.
Tip Leave room all round for the mane, and half the paper below.
Step 2: Ears and eyes
Draw a rainbow ear on each top corner. Below the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes with shines.
Step 3: Bumpy cloud mane
Start at the left ear. Draw big cloud bumps down, 3 small ones under the chin, up to the right.
Tip The mane goes behind the ears, so the ears poke out.
Step 4: Nose and cheek pads
A finger under the eyes, draw a small black nose. Add 2 plump oval cheek pads under it.
Step 5: Smile and whiskers
Start under the left pad. Draw a shallow smile, stopping under the right pad. Add 2 whiskers per pad.
Step 6: Ground and body
Draw a ground line a hand under the mane. From each side draw a fat C down, ending above it.
Tip The body is a plump pear. Join the 2 sides along the bottom.
Step 7: Front legs
Start on the mane. Draw 2 front legs side by side down to mitten paws, sharing one middle line.
Tip Each leg gets thinner at the wrist, then puffs out into a round paw.
Step 8: Back paws
Start low on each body side. Draw a little hill paw behind the front paw, ending on the ground.
Step 9: Pom tail
Start low on the right side. Draw a tail that gets thinner as it curves up to a round pom.
Step 10: Toes and inner ears
Draw 2 toes per front paw, 1 per back paw. In each ear, draw a circle stopping at the face.
Step 11: Sand fur
Colour face, ears, body, legs, paws and tail sand, around the cheek pads and inner ears. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Ginger mane, peach cheeks
Colour the mane and tail pom ginger, around the face and ears. Colour the cheek pads and inner ears peach.
