How to Draw a Giraffe Drinking
Draw a giraffe drinking in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long head.
Step 1: Long head
Low on the left draw a long egg head tipping down to the left, wide at the top.
Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Eye and snout
Draw a big eye near the wide end. Over the low end draw a round snout, nostril and smile.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 3: Horns and ear
On the top of the head draw 2 short horns with round knobs, and a leaf ear behind them.
Tip Add a smaller leaf inside the ear.
Step 4: Neck and back
From the ear draw one big curve up and over to the right, along the back and round the bottom.
Tip Then draw the underside of the neck, from the chin up to the chest.
Step 5: Water hole
Under the nose draw a flat oval pool with 2 ripples. Rule the ground from the pool to the right.
Tip The nose just touches the water.
Step 6: Front leg
Start at the chest. Draw a long leg slanting forward to a hoof, then back up. Stop under the shoulder.
Tip The leg gets thinner on the way down. Draw a line across the hoof.
Step 7: Tummy and back leg
From the front leg draw the tummy, then a back leg down to a hoof and up to the bottom.
Tip The back leg bends backwards halfway down.
Step 8: Far legs
Behind the front leg draw another leg slanting the other way. Add 1 more back leg peeking out.
Tip The 2 front legs spread apart like an upside-down V.
Step 9: Tail and hair
Hang a thin tail with a leaf tuft from the bottom's top corner. Add 6 hair bumps along the neck.
Step 10: Big patches
Draw 4 round patches down the neck and 7 on the body, with gaps between them.
Tip Keep every patch inside the outline.
Step 11: Cream and peach
Colour the snout cream and the middle of the ear peach.
Step 12: Colour it yellow
Colour the giraffe yellow, around the patches, the snout and the ear middle. Leave the eye white.
Tip Save the hair bumps, horn knobs, tail tuft and hooves for later.
Step 13: Patches and water
Colour inside all 11 patches ginger. Colour the water hole blue.
Step 14: Brown parts
Colour the hair bumps, the 2 horn knobs, the tail tuft and all 4 hooves brown.
