How to Draw a Gerenuk
Draw a gerenuk in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.
Step 1: Big head
Near the top left, draw a big round head with soft cheeks. Leave lots of room on the right.
Tip A big head is what makes it cute.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big eyes. Add a small triangle nose under them. From its point, a line down to a smile.
Step 3: Horns and ears
On top of the head, draw 2 horns curving up to points. Add a tall leaf ear on each corner.
Step 4: Long neck
Start behind the head. Draw a long neck sloping down to the chest. The front line starts under the chin.
Step 5: Bean body
From the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom and a tummy.
Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder than the chest.
Step 6: Two legs
Start on the chest. Draw a front leg with a knee bump, down to a hoof. Add a back leg.
Step 7: Far legs
Start behind the front leg. Draw a thinner leg down to a hoof. Do the same by the back leg.
Step 8: The tail
Start on the top of the bottom. Draw a thin tail hanging down and stop at a little leaf tuft.
Step 9: Ground line
Start left of the front hooves and draw a straight ground line under all 4 hooves, past the tail.
Step 10: Peach ears
Go over your lines. Colour the insides of the ears peach.
Step 11: Colour it ginger
Colour the head, neck, body, legs and tail ginger, around the peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Grey horns
Colour the horns and the tuft on the tail grey.
Step 13: Grey hooves
Colour the 4 hooves grey. Your gerenuk is done!
