How to Draw a Fighter Jet

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a fighter jet in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pointed body.

Print

  1. Step 1: Pointed body

Start at a sharp nose on the right. Draw a flat top back, round the tail, back to the nose.

Tip A fighter jet is a skinny dart: long and pointed, not a fat tube.

  2. Step 2: Bubble canopy

On top of the body behind the nose, draw a bubble from the body, up like a hill, back down.

Tip Add a short glint curve inside it.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

Under the canopy, draw 2 round eyes in the middle of the body, one in front of the other.

  4. Step 4: Grin and cheeks

Under the gap between the eyes, draw a small U grin. Add a small oval cheek out past each eye.

  5. Step 5: Big triangle wing

Under the body, rule a wing from under the grin: down to a sharp tip, and back to the body.

Tip A big sharp triangle with straight edges. The body is its top edge.

  6. Step 6: Far wing

Above the body, draw the other wing the same way: a smaller triangle pointing up and back.

Tip It is smaller because it is farther away.

  7. Step 7: Tail fin

At the back, draw a tail fin from the body top: slanted up, a flat top, down to the body.

  8. Step 8: Engine and flame

At the very back, draw a short cup for the engine, and a long pointed flame shooting out left.

  9. Step 9: Stripe and speed lines

Draw a long thin stripe along the body behind the eyes. Add 3 speed lines above and below the flame.

  10. Step 10: Sky canopy, pink cheeks

Colour the canopy sky blue and the 2 little cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Grey jet

Colour the body, wings and tail fin grey, around the cheeks and stripe. Colour the engine cup slate grey.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Flame, stripe and pupils

Colour the flame orange and the stripe red. Colour a black pupil in each eye, leaving a tiny shine.
