How to Draw a Dinosaur Museum

23 steps · Tricky · about 17 min

Draw a dinosaur museum in 23 steps, about 17 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, well left of the middle, draw a small egg for the head, narrower at the chin.

Tip Keep the kid small: a giant skeleton fills the rest of the page.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 dot eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Add C ears, starting and ending on the head line.

  3. Step 3: Baseball cap

Draw a cap over the top of the head, just outside the head line. Add a curved visor under it.

  4. Step 4: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a T-shirt, ending at the right one. One sleeve points up.

  5. Step 5: Arms

From each sleeve draw an arm, stopping at the wrist. The right arm bends up to point at the dinosaur.

  6. Step 6: Hands

Draw a round hand on the left wrist with a thumb bump. Draw a round fist on the right wrist.

  7. Step 7: Shorts, legs, sneakers

From the left end of the shirt draw shorts, ending at the right end. Add 2 legs, sneakers and ground.

  8. Step 8: The skull

Above the fist draw a big bony skull: a flat top, a long sloping snout, an eye hole, a nostril.

Tip The skull is nearly as big as the kid.

  9. Step 9: Teeth and jaw

Zigzag pointy teeth along the top jaw, starting and stopping on it. From the back draw an open bottom jaw.

  10. Step 10: The backbone

Start at the skull's back. Curve the backbone down the neck, then run it level. Stop near the right edge.

  11. Step 11: Neck and back bones

From the skull along the backbone draw 6 little ovals, like beads on a string.

  12. Step 12: Hip bone

After the last bead draw one big oval bone for the hips, sitting on the backbone.

  13. Step 13: Tail bones

Along the tail draw 6 round bones in a row, each one smaller than the last, down to the tip.

  14. Step 14: Ribs and tiny arm

Start on the back beads. Draw 4 long curved ribs hanging down. Add a tiny bent arm at the front.

Tip Every rib starts on the backbone, like a hook on a rail.

  15. Step 15: Big leg

From the hip draw a thigh bone forward to a knee, a shin back to an ankle, then 3 toes.

  16. Step 16: Other leg

Draw the other leg behind it, more upright, with its own knee, ankle and 3 toes.

  17. Step 17: The stand

Start on the ground. Draw a tall box under the toes, stop on the ground. Add a lined sign.

  18. Step 18: Red cap, green T-shirt

Go over your lines. Colour the cap red and the T-shirt green.

  19. Step 19: Blue shorts, grey stand

Colour the shorts blue and the stand grey, around the sign.

  20. Step 20: Cream skull

Colour the skull, the teeth and the jaw cream. Colour the eye hole and the nostril dark grey.

  21. Step 21: Cream backbone

Colour the 6 neck and back bones and the 6 tail bones cream.

  22. Step 22: Cream legs

Colour the hip bone, the tiny arm, both legs and the sign cream.

  23. Step 23: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, neck, ears, arms and legs peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Done!
