How to Draw a Baby Macaw
Draw a baby macaw in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top, draw a big round head, a little flat on the left where the beak will go.
Tip A baby macaw has a big head. Make it almost half of the bird.
Step 2: Big hooked beak
On the left of the head, draw a fat beak hooking down to a point. Add a small lower beak.
Tip The top beak curves over like a hook.
Step 3: Eye and face patch
Behind the beak, draw a round eye with a black dot and a shine. Draw a big C round it.
Tip The C starts at the top of the beak and stops at the lower beak.
Step 4: First head feathers
On top of the head, draw 3 small pointed feathers standing up like a little fan.
Step 5: Fluffy body
Under the head, draw a big round body with a soft bumpy edge, like a ball of fluff.
Tip Keep the bumps small and soft.
Step 6: Little wing
On the side of the body, draw a small wing, round at the shoulder and pointed at the tip.
Step 7: Wing bands
Draw 2 curved lines across the wing, from its top edge to its bottom edge, to make 3 bands.
Step 8: Stubby tail
From the back of the body, draw a short fat tail sloping down. End it in 3 round feather tips.
Step 9: Big feet
Under the body, draw 2 short legs. Give each one a big foot with 2 fat round toes.
Tip A parrot has 2 toes in front. Its 2 back toes hide behind.
Step 10: Ground line
Start left of the feet. Draw a flat ground line under them and stop past the tail.
Step 11: Cream and yellow
Colour both parts of the beak cream. Colour the middle band of the wing yellow.
Step 12: Red and blue
Colour the head feathers, the tail and the top wing band red. Colour the wing tip blue.
Step 13: Grey fluff
Colour the head and body grey, around the wing. Leave the face patch and the eye white.
Step 14: Dark feet
Colour the legs and feet dark grey. Your baby macaw is done!
