How to Draw an Asian Elephant

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw an asian elephant in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bumpy head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Bumpy head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head with 2 soft bumps on top.

Tip Two bumps on top is the Asian elephant's secret.

  2. Step 2: Curly trunk

Low on the face draw a small rainbow. From its ends, draw a trunk down past the chin, curling up.

Tip Fat at the rainbow, thin at the curl. Rub out the chin line inside the trunk.

  3. Step 3: Eyes and smile

Beside the rainbow draw 2 big oval eyes with shines. From the trunk draw a small smile towards each cheek.

  4. Step 4: Small round ears

On each side of the head draw a small ear, wide at the top, curling back to the cheek.

Tip Asian elephants have small ears, not huge fans.

  5. Step 5: Inside the ears

Inside each ear, start on the head line. Draw one curve following the ear's edge, ending back on the head.

  6. Step 6: Tusks and wrinkles

Under the chin, draw a short banana tusk each side of the trunk. Draw 3 curved lines across the trunk.

  7. Step 7: Body and ground

From each cheek, under the ear, draw a C down. Stop level with the trunk's tip. Draw a ground line.

  8. Step 8: Thick legs and tummy

From each body line draw a thick leg down to a wide foot and up. Add a tummy line between.

  9. Step 9: Toenails and back feet

Draw 3 toenail bumps on each front foot. Outside each, draw a low bump from the ground to the leg.

  10. Step 10: Tufted tail

Start on the body's right side. Draw a thin tail curving down, with a teardrop tuft at the end.

  11. Step 11: Pink and cream

Colour the inside of each ear pink and dab pink on each cheek. Colour the tusks and toenails cream.

  12. Step 12: Colour it grey

Colour the elephant grey, around the pink and cream parts. Leave the eyes white.
